Wireless off-chip communication

Wireless communication allows for transfer of data over longer distances. The main advantages for wireless communication over wired communication is the extended range, and reducing the need physical connections to the chips package. Wireless communications however typically have a lower bandwidth compared to similar wired connections. For instance WIFI 6.0 has a practical maximum bandwidth of about 4.8 Gbps, whereas ethernet achieves speeds of around 40 Gbps depending on the physical wire cabling. 

There are a number of Wireless communication protocols including many widely used standards. Such standards support different application needs.
